Five Days Till Christmas

What does Christmas mean to you?

Christmas means to me the birth of Christ.

Three Wise men following a star.

Shephards watching from a far.

Mary and Joseph traveling on a donkey.

A lonely stable because there was no room at the inn.

Tax season requiring people to travel from afar.

A baby wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manager.

Hope, joy, love and change for all people in the future.

Christmas means to me family traditions.

Family gatherings and special food.

Christmas trees decorated with love.

Christmas carols being sung.

The feeling of giving to those you love.

Joy as you watch them open their present.

Santa Claus a symbol of love, joy, and dreams.

Christmas pageants and Christmas concerts.

Shopping, hustle and bustle.

Winter, snow and ice skating.

Loving thy neighbor and reaching out to strangers.

Passing good fortune forward.

A day for time for love and family and friends.

Amazing as it is this week has been a week of surprises. Many secret Santa’s paying of lay away’s for those struggling to provide for their families. Surprises as people walk to the clerks and find out their purchases are already paid for. How great that is for those receiving.

How ever I wonder about the poor who don’t go into the stores because there is no chance of paying for a lay away or making a purchase. The ones who sit in their home alone not celebrating Christmas. Not telling anyone, not going anywhere, and not receiving anything.

Do you have a family member like that?

What about a neighbor?

Is there someone who you can invite into your home and share your family and holiday with?

Jesus said little the children come unto me. We are all children in the eyes of the Lord. This is a season when God would say let everyone come unto me. Believe in me and ye shall not be alone.

So as we go through the last minutes of the days before Christmas take a close look at what Christmas means to you now and what it meant to you as a child. Have you shared those special meanings with your own children?

What about the parents who never see their children at Christmas time and don’t talk to them? It is never too late to reach out to them. Maybe they are waiting for that sign of love from you. Pick up the phone call them. Mail them a card, send them a present, go and spend time with them.

This is the week to share love. Spread it around and let the joy fill your heart.

Song of the day was originally a poem.

Love came down at Christmas

Love all lovely, Love Divine, Love was born at Christmas, Star and Angels gave the sign.

Worship we the Godhead, Love Incarnate, Love Divine, Worship we our Jesus, But wherewith for sacred sign?

Love shall be our token, Love shall be yours and love be mine, Love to God and all men, Love for plea and gift and sign.

As Christmas comes closer go out and spread the love and joy of the true meaning of Christmas. Love they brother and sister as thine own.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Greet the Troops as the return hope 🙂
