National Hug Day

For some reason, January 21 has become an annual national hugging holiday. So find that favorite person and give them a hug today. Spread your feelings in your family. Give them a hug start the day off right and hug them all day long.

Squirrel Appreciation Day

Squirrel Appreciation Day  is a day to  enjoy and appreciate your tree climbing, nut gathering neighborhood squirrels if the weather allows it.

This event itself is up to the individual or group — anything from putting out extra food for the squirrels to learning something new about the species. A good class project for schools. Read and write about Squirrel’s today.

Christy Hargrove, the woman with the distinctive honor of founding Squirrel Appreciation Day, explains.

Hargrove seemingly started the holiday back in 2001. She’s a wildlife worker from North Carolina.

We think hugging a squirrel would be a great way to bring today’s two traditions together.

If you don’t have life squirrels to appreciate then get a stuffed one and give it a hug today.

Remember everyone needs a hug.

National Granola Bar Day

National Granola Bar DayHere is your healthy snack, but granola bars can take on the fat and calories of any candy bar when you mix in  your favorite chocolate chips, honey, marshmallow and butter, ingredients that often help to bind loose granola into easy, portable granola bars.

However, there are many recipes for granola Bars both loaded and unloaded with calories. Today is a great day to celebrate a granola bar with a friend. Whether you buy them at the store or make your own at home. Have yourself a special treat.

Today apparent is a day for warm fuzzies. Lots of hugs. Appreciating squirrels, and granola bar snacks. What more could you ask for on a winter’s day. So sit back and enjoy whether you are looking out the window, celebrating inside with family and friends, or curled up with a book and a blanket.

Just remember hugs make a happy day.

So on this cloudy, grey, rainy day I am going to give hugs, find some snacks, and sit back and appreciate the day.

I know my squirrels are staying in where it’s dry and warm. So I’ll think of Sammy Squirrel and watch for him on a drier day.

So until next time mdf’s please stay safe and warm.

🙂
