Love Your Pet Day

It’s Love Your Pet Day! Today is the official day for pampering your pet with a little extra love and affection to show them just how much you care.

Did you know that most households in the United States have at least one pet? Approximately 39% of US households own at least one dog, and 33% own at least one cat. Pets provide wonderful companionship and can actually help decrease your blood pressure and stress.

So whether you have a cat, dog, hamster, rabbit, bird, reptile, or goldfish, shower them with love and affection today! Happy Love Your Pet Day

Here is the perfect story for LOVE YOUR PET DAY!!!!!

Trooper, the cat found frozen to a driveway on Newfoundland’s west coast earlier this month, has been flown to P.E.I. for surgery at Charlottetown’s Atlantic Veterinary College.

Trooper spent more than 24 hours stuck to a driveway in Stephenville Crossing before being rescued and turned over to the Bay St. George animal shelter. The cat was flown to P.E.I. with Gwen Samms, the shelter manager, on Sunday.

Trooper was at the Atlantic Vet College undergoing tests Monday morning. He needs surgery for three fractures to his pelvic area.

Samms has been collecting donations to help pay for all the expenses related to the care of Trooper, and has received them from as far away as Australia. The Comfort Inn has offered Samms free accommodations while she’s in Charlottetown.

Let’s all get the word out that Trooper needs help. Pass the word about animals needing to be indoors during winter months. They can’t survive the cold temperatures. Many people misunderstand because they have fur. They still can freeze to death, have frostbite of feet, legs, paws, nose, ears, etc. They need shelter, warmth and food.

This is a good time to pass the word out and remember February is a be kind month so if you can donate anything to help pay for “Trooper” and his care it would be greatly appreciated.

President’s Day

Today is President’s Day! Did you know that this federal holiday is actually called Washington’s Birthday? Through the 1960s, Americans celebrated both Washington’s Birthday and Lincoln’s Birthday in the month of February. Then, in 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Holidays Bill, which moved the observance of Washington’s Birthday from February 22 to the third Monday in February. These are the only President’s Birthdays recognized for celebration in the United States. The original plan was to combine Washington and Lincoln’s Birthday renaming it President’s Day, but that part of the bill never passed. No matter what you call it, today is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the American Presidents and pay tribute to the contributions they have made to this country. The official roles of the President of the United States include: Chief of State, Chief Executive, Chief Diplomat, Chief Administrator, Commander-in-Chief, Chief Legislator, and Head of the Party. To celebrate today’s federal holiday, take a moment to learn something new about one of our presidents. This year being an election year is especially a good time to learn about not only our current President but those who care to run for office.
While many have a three-day weekend many others do not, so enjoy today the best you can.

Happy President’s Day!

National Cherry Pie Day

Today is National Cherry Pie Day!  This annual food holiday is celebrated each year on February 20th.  Whether you prefer your slice cold or warm and/or topped with a scoop of ice cream (like I do) or with whipped cream, who can resist the sweet yet tart cherry filling surrounded by a delicious, flaky pie crust? Nothing better than mom’s old-fashioned homemade pie. Yum!

February is also National Cherry Month.

Legend has it that Queen Elizabeth I actually “invented” the cherry pie. The Cherry pie became her favorite pie and was also George Washington’s too.  How many of you remember the reference to Washington chopping down a cherry tree?  February being the National Month of Cherry’s and  Americans celebrating Washington’s Birthday is the timing of this food holiday just a coincidence or was it intentional?

No matter what everyone can enjoy the day with their favorite Cherry desert.

So for today I am going to Love my Cats, honor Past and Present President’s and find a nice Cherry desert. I am thinking I would love to have a nice Cherry Turn Over with Icing.
Then I am going to spend my afternoon completing the Table of Contents in my new book “The Land of Horses” so that I can get the interior submitted this week. All you horse lovers out there remember today to be kind to your animals, maybe an extra bag of oats or some carrots or apples would be in order.
For those of you who don’t have pets be kind to someone else’s pet.
Enjoy the day pass the love forward and remember to Share the message about TROOPER he needs prayers, love and donations.
Until next time 🙂
