April 11th

Great Day to be alive. I hope you all are doing fine.

Yesterday the news talked about depression due to lack of sun. Many people experience this especially if they live in the mountains. The one thing they pointed out was not to forget that many children also experience this. I think that is very important. We sometimes forget about the children with all of our adult problems but we need to remember that everything that affects us also affects our children and their moods and behavior.

Having grown up in the mountains where it was grey for nine months of the year this had an effect on our attitudes. I was one of the fortunate ones because nothing stopped me at that age and I continued to do my normal activities. However, my sister was greatly affected by it and turned to sleeping a lot.

The more normal you can keep your life the better. Many people get sun lamps for in their houses and that helps a lot. You not only have the brightness of the sun but you also have the warmth.

The reason I am writing about this is I felt so good yesterday because of the nice weather that I even slept better.  I woke up more refreshed and told myself how good I felt.

I think that is very important especially for someone who suffers from chronic pain or illness.

I recommend that everyone tries logging the weather and your behavior an attitude for one month and see how they affect each other. Then maybe you will be able to make changes in your life that improve your happiness.

I am so happy that nice weather is finally here. I can weather a few storms in between knowing they aren’t here to stay. 🙂

What’s up with the Zimmerman/Trayvon case? Suddenly Zimmerman is nowhere to be found. They aren’t filing first degree murder charges so he’s not in custody. I don’t have all the facts but the one thing I want to stress to readers is Zimmerman did what he was told not to do. He continued to pursue this young man. When you do that you have to take responsibility for your actions. Had he left like the police told him to the entire scenario would be different and it would be totally in the hands of the law.

Everyone is taught in science class that for every action there is a reaction. However, people don’t think about this. However, this is a perfect example of science. There was an action by Zimmerman and there was a reaction by Trayvon.  It didn’t have to happen.

My point is be careful what choices you make and listen to those that try to guide you so you don’t make a similar mistake. We don’t always see the consequences of our choices until it is too late as in this case.

Communities all around will celebrate this day differently so look in your local paper and see what your community is doing. No matter what you do today enjoy the day and add music to your life.

11 National Pet Day

I have two pet cats Baby and Skeeter. They are part of the family. Everyone is raised with different beliefs about how animals should fit into the family role.

My father was very strict about being responsible for an animal. He felt that once you got a pet it was part of the family and you needed to take care of it like you would any family member.

My mother on the other hand grew up in the country and liked her animals outside. However, she gave in to my father to keep the peace.

I wish everyone had my dad’s philosophy because then we would have less homeless and abused animals in today’s world.

I love my cats and they each have their own different personalities however, they are very much like children. They have their little temper tantrums, and sibling fights.

However, love and nurture wins over all. I always hold the trump card.

Today is a day that you should show appreciation for your pet. Maybe you want to give it spring grooming, some extra treats. Take it for a walk or just have some special play time for them.

Remember animals get depressed in the winter the same as humans do so now is a good time to let them know how much you appreciate them.

IF you don’t have a pet and are thinking of getting one now is a great time to check out your local animal shelters.

Remember to be sure that a pet is something you really do want. After holidays many animals are donated to the shelters. Those cute little bunnies, chicks and ducks that everyone thought they would love for Easter. Those are not good house pets. Those are pets for 4H projects or on the farm.

Animals do have feelings too and it is very hard on them when they keep getting move around from family to family. That is why it is important to be sure you really want a pet before you get one. Make sure you are in it for the long haul and that you have the time to take care and train whatever pet you choose.

Otherwise you can just walk through a pet store when ever you want to see the cute cuddly animals that you don’t wish to take home.

But to all you pet owners please take good care of them they are all very special
