April 12th

Well I hope this finds everyone well today. I don’t know if any of you are having problems with allergies but my hay fever sure is acting up. We’ve had a lot of wind yesterday and today and that has aggravated everything.

It started out to be somewhat sunny with clouds but now it is overcast and the weather forecast says showers. However, it has been warm so there’s no complaining. Although certain areas of the state have to watch for flooding.

We don’t have a problem where we are at but I am tired of the grey and the rain.

However, it’s suppose to be nice Saturday when I have my book signing and I can’t ask for more than that.

Well I am pleased to see that they have arrested Zimmerman. I am not saying he’s guilty but now the justice system can move forward and hopefully some of the truth will come out.

I will be sending an order for books in on April 18th so if anyone wants to order directly from me please get in touch right away so we can include you in that order. My funds are limited and the books go out as fast as they come in.

It’s National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day! Although it only requires three ingredients (bread, cheese, and butter), grilled cheese is one of the most popular comfort foods in the world. Send a free eCard for National Grilled Cheese Dayto spread the word about this holiday! The Ancient Romans were the first civilization to make a cooked bread and cheese sandwich, but many cultures have invented their own take on this ancient dish. In France, people enjoy Croque Monsieur (a grilled ham and cheese sandwich) while in Switzerland it is customary to melt the cheese and toast the bread separately before combining them. The classic American grilled cheese sandwich emerged in the 1920s when inexpensive cheese and affordable sliced bread became available. It is now a staple in cafés, diners, and school cafeterias across the country. To celebrate National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day, enjoy a grilled cheese sandwich cooked your favorite way and served with a side of tomato soup!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Drop Everything and Read Day (D.E.A.R)

What’s better to do on a raining day?

April 12th will be a busy day since that is also Beverly Cleary’s birthday, but I always can find time to read. I am going to tell everyone in my family to Drop Everything and Read on April 12th. We can do it right at home or to make the day more special, maybe go to the library or a bookstore.

I hope that you, D.E.A.R. friend, will be reading too. Everybody can do it! All you need is a book, your family and 30 minutes together.

The fastest wind speed ever recorded occurred on April 12, 1934 in New Hampshire. April 12th is now known as BIG WIND DAY.

I don’t know about you, but I find the weather fascinating, especially since moving from sunny California to New Mexico, a place where a 50 mph wind gust is normal. Since moving here, I’ve repaired my southern fence twice due to wind damage and suffered property damage from a severe hail storm. The winds and weather have my respect!

With global warming and weather so often being newsworthy, I decided to look into this BIG WIND DAY story. Read on and learn about this amazing world record, the day that commemorates the event, and the power of winds. You might just be inspired to celebrate this day.

Cosmonautics Day (Russian: День Космона́втики) is a holiday celebrated in Russia and some other former USSR countries on April 12. This holiday celebrates the first manned space flight made on April 12, 1961 by the 27-year-old Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Gagarin circled the Earth for 1 hour and 48 minutes aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft. Coincidentally, it is also the anniversary of the first Space Shuttle launch that occurred 20 years after the historic Vostok flight.

Today is a day when everyone can find something of interest whether it be a favorite food, a book to read or do nothing, just watch out for those windy days because they definitely like April 12th.

I will spend the day inside writing, communicating with friends and catching up on some needed reading. I will avoid the winds.

So until next time 🙂
