Duty Calls

Duty Calls

Men and women fighting all around,

Wondering what is happening in their hometown,

Knowing that for them duty calls,

Hoping none of them, death befalls.

Fighting for our countries rights,

Keeping families safe at night,

Dreaming of a warm bed,

Ducking in mud their bodies and head.

A happy day for them to know,

Is waking up alive and ready to go,

Eating food that isn’t the best,

Putting their stomachs to the test.

Knowing that one day, they will be,

Able to go home and eat with family,

Looking forward to mail call,

Anxious to read it before it is nightfall.

Sharing pictures with their buddies,

Make jokes and reading funnies,

Life is different from everyone else,

However, they make it the very best.

Military is its own family,

Trusting each other’s life freely,

Honor is the word of the day,

Freedom is the cost they pay.

Pride for our military we need to show,

From our hearts let them know,

Thank you for being there,

And for showing this world you do care.

With men and women fighting all around,

Life continues normal in their hometowns,

Knowing that for them duty calls,

Hoping none of them, death befalls.

Thanks to all the military who fight for our country,

 Our flag and our freedom,

Thanks to all who serve our country,

Whether at home or far away.

Responsibility in every way,

Not knowing what comes each new day,

Bless you for wanting freedom to stay,

Flying our flag whenever, we may.
